Communities

First grade is learning all about our community.
We first began this study with describing our family over time using a time line.  In addition, our crew shared about our traditions and what makes our families different and the same.
Learning Targets:
I can describe my family in order.
I can describe my family traditions.

Now that we understand that we belong to a "family community", we are discussing our Fox Creek community.  Students collaborated in small groups to interview various Fox Creek teachers.  Students asked questions to get to know each teacher:
1.  What do you do at Fox Creek?
2.  What tool do you use to do your job at Fox Creek?
3.  What do you enjoy doing when you are not at Fox Creek?

Learning Target:
I can research important jobs at Fox Creek.
Students persevered to create a high quality job card.  These job cards will be posted on the walls of Fox Creek to teach people about the important jobs at Fox Creek.

Learning Target:
I can teach about the important jobs at Fox Creek.

Next, we will be learning about important jobs in our town.
